Deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion: the tools every account has

A deposit limit caps what you can pay in per day, week or month. Set it when you open the account, while the number is a budgeting decision rather than a reaction. Increases typically take effect after a cooling-off delay; decreases apply immediately.

A time-out (or 'take a break') closes your account for a short period — usually from 24 hours to six weeks. It's the right tool when betting has drifted from entertainment to habit and you want distance without a permanent decision.

Self-exclusion is the strong version: a formal bar, typically from six months to five years, that the operator must enforce. National schemes extend this across every licensed operator at once, so one registration covers the whole market.

Using these tools isn't an admission of anything. They're seatbelts: cheap to use, invisible most of the time, and exactly what you want already fastened on the day something skids.

As with everything on this site: the operators reviewed here are licensed, the facts carry the date we verified them, and none of this is a prediction or a promise. Bet with money you can afford to lose, or don't bet at all — both are respectable choices.
